Interesting facts about North Baddesley
North Baddesley was home to John Edward Arthur Willis Fleming, who once held the largest estate in the country with over 80 farms in 1872. Chilworth Manor, which is often a key landmark location when driving towards CNB MOTs, was owned by the Fleming estate, used as a home and later rented out to affluent tenants. The Chilworth Manor estate in 1946 stretched over 90 acres and was sold on to a family businessman. Today, Chilworth Manor is owned by the University of Southampton and retains its original Edwardian character but as a hotel.
